Dr. Taylor's take
“GHK-Cu is one of the most versatile peptides I prescribe for skin and tissue health. The gene expression research behind it is genuinely impressive: it's tied to activity across thousands of genes involved in tissue repair. For most patients focused on skin rejuvenation or hair support, a topical protocol is the right starting point.”
Dr. Patrick Taylor, MD · Live Vital physician
About GHK-Cu.
Also known as: Copper Peptide GHK-Cu, Glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine:copper(II)
GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring tripeptide (glycine, histidine, and lysine) bound to a copper(II) ion. It was first isolated from human plasma in 1973, and it is also present in saliva and urine. Plasma levels are highest in young adulthood and decline substantially with age, a pattern that has driven much of the research interest in the peptide for skin and tissue support.
GHK-Cu is one of the most extensively studied peptides in cosmetic dermatology. Live Vital offers it as a physician-prescribed topical formulation for patients who complete a medical intake and are approved by Dr. Taylor.
How it works
GHK-Cu supports collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis in the skin and promotes proliferation of dermal fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing the structural proteins that keep skin firm. Laboratory research has also shown that GHK-Cu influences activity across thousands of genes involved in tissue remodeling and inflammation control, which is part of why it is studied for both cosmetic and general tissue-repair applications.
Who it may help.
- Patients interested in skin rejuvenation
- Patients experiencing hair thinning
- Patients focused on scar or wound healing support
- Patients interested in general skin aging support
What to expect, when.
Many patients report early improvements in skin texture within a few weeks of starting a topical GHK-Cu protocol, with hair-related benefits typically taking longer, often several months, to become noticeable. Individual results vary, and Dr. Taylor will help set realistic expectations for your specific protocol during your consultation.
Dosing is not one-size-fits-all. Dr. Taylor personalizes your dose and schedule after your medical intake, and adjusts it as your protocol progresses.
